Insanity, thy name is America!

I believe it was Albert Einstein who said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”  If Einstein’s definition of insanity is correct, it should be apparent that the citizens of the United States are becoming increasingly crazy.
Over and over and over again, we continue to elect republicans. Over and over and over again, the elected republicans cut the taxes for the riches Americans, give lucrative tax brakes to corporations, deregulate safety and environmental standards (under the disguise of making government more user friendly to corporations), reduce government oversight departments and their number of inspectors, privatize important state and federal departments (blatantly and intentionally making them less transparent and less accountable to the citizens), and reduce the citizens rights to seek justice against corporations for health, safety, and environmental harms they caused.
Of course, the republicans justify these actions, over and over again, by claiming that these actions will create jobs. But these actions have failed to create jobs ― over and over again! Yes, there are governors, like Scott Walker (R-WI), who claims that 36,000 new jobs have been created since he took office. Although this number is fairly accurate, the devil is in the details. All the highway work we see in Wisconsin and the other states are being funded by ―government spending. Corporate American did not create these jobs. A second group of jobs were created by defense contracts. These jobs (including the multi-billion-dollar, ship building contract in Marinette, Wisconsin) are being funded by ―government spending. Corporate America did not create these jobs.
However, there are a few hiring that corporate America has done in recent months, but again, the devil is in the details. Essentially, many American corporations fire their workers, by telling them the businesses are going to relocate. Several months later, the corporations announce that they are doing better than expected, so they have changed their minds about relocating. Therefore, they will be rehiring the workers that were laid-off. However, the salaries will be less and no benefits will be offered.  So in the end, the corporations regains hard-working, experience workers to perform the same jobs that they were doing before, but at reduced salaries and without any benefits.
The republicans have subjected us to this system of government, over and over again, in the past 11 years. Yet, in Wisconsin’s recall election, last Tuesday, we elected them ― again! And all indications are that we will be electing more of them in 2012, including one of them to be the President of the United States. And their same policies that are decimating our beautiful nation, they will put into place ― again. Yet, we will be expecting a different result!
